I don't get it, how much should you earn to put a nut on a bolt?

A local restaurant near me has a chef that puts out some very good food, manages the wait staff, creates and updates the menu, and does it all for $28,000 a year.

So someone is telling me that we need to pay a UAW member $60,000 to work on an assembly line?
